Welcome To GTE Track Spray

Weed Spray Rail Corridor

Flexible and results-oriented 'whole of corridor approach' with varying capabilities across all areas requiring treatment with the least impact on train running times. - 24/7 capabilities -

Mainlines

Our mainline spraying operations are time flexible, fitting in with the needs of each client, geographical location, weather conditions, corridor timetables, and other factors. It is common for our mainline spraying to occur after the last train and before the first train (ALTBFT), so that our staff can take advantage of the quieter periods on rail. We apply herbicides with our hi-rail vehicles, fully compliant and fitted out with the spray apparatus and booms capable of a very wide swathe. The types of herbicide used depend greatly on the type of treatment (residual or knockdown, or combination) and the season, weeds (and resistance levels) to be targeted in the area, weather conditions, environmental factors and previous treatments. Our filler trucks are available to allow refueling as required in the most efficient way.

Yards, Sidings, Depots, Firebreaks

Our approach to yards, depots and sidings is a combination of on and off track spraying. Our vehicles are highly specialised. We have a range of vehicles in our fleet for various tasks – some vehicles are able to run off-track to get into more difficult areas of yards and depots. The hand spraying capabilities allow more flexibility in tight spots.

Crossings, Loops, Structures

Crossings, loops and structures are often sprayed during the day in the quieter times. Not only does controlling the weeds around these areas look nicer for the general public, it helps to control vermin that often seek refuge in these areas of otherwise overgrown vegetation. Clear crossings and structures keep the railway workers and public safer.
