Welcome To GTE Track Spray

Specialised Equipment

18 fleet vehicles with state-of-the-art cab controlled spray apparatus, hand and hi-rail capabilities for mainline, loops, sidings, yards, crossings, firebreaks, structures and targeted spot spraying for noxious weeds programs.

GTE’s state of the art plant and equipment includes the most specialized vehicles dedicated to both on and off track weed spraying operation.

We use mainline vehicles fitted with a revolutionary rail guidance system designed and installed by TracWest. The computerized system allows accurate control of varied widths for the spray swathe. The regulated herbicide applications are controlled in cab and work effectively at swathes from 2-10 metres, and at speeds between 5-25 kms/hour. Storage of our tanks up to a capacity of 10,000 litres allows GTE to get the job done accurately, efficiently and at a set value cost which represents excellent value for money. GTE uses both residual and non-residual application herbicides dependent upon the season, weeds in the local geology, and the budget and wishes of each client.

See our Blog for updated vehicles such as the Volvo Trucks new to our fleet.

Some of Australia’s rail network are in harsh terrain, and our fleet also comprises of vehicles able to get in and out of difficult terrain to control vegetation. Varying swathe capabilities allow our operations staff to gain maximum effect with a combination of boom, off-centre and hand-gun spray applications in even the tightest situations with excellent coverage.

Calibration and Maintenance of our Fleet

All GTE vehicles adhere to regular servicing schedules as required, and it is important to GTE to ensure our fleet are functional and in excellent mechanical order, as we do not want breakdowns or faulty equipment interfering with our rostered timelines. Our Yardsman schedules vehicle assessments for PlantGUARD and servicing, including regular hi rail maintenance and calibration with our specialized suppliers. Our operations team perform daily vehicle checks to ensure all vehicles are in excellent working condition. The management of our fleet reflects our commitment to the IMS and Avetta/Aquipa green flag continued status.

Spray nozzles on our vehicles require regular calibration, and basic daily calibrations are performed in the field by our trained operations staff to ensure there are no blockages, off target spraying or other issues, and we then perform three monthly detailed calibrations every quarter at head office. Correct calibration of nozzles ensures elimination of non-target spraying and ensures operations staff can perform adjustments as required to keep everything as it should be.

All network vehicle compliance requirements are met through stringent assessments and asset maintenance schedules to maintain compliant and reliable plant and equipment, purpose built for the most efficient, safe and effective treatment.
